Rocket City FurMeet Roundup -- January 2010 Edition
Rocket City FurMeet Roundup -- January 2010 Edition

Rocket City FurMeet
Huntsville, Alabama
May 28-30, 2010
http://www.rcfm.net

Hello Rocket Furs!

Brody here. I hope all of you are having a wonderful holiday season. While you're busy making plans for Christmas or New Year's, why not also plan Memorial Day weekend? Registration is now open for Rocket City Furmeet on our website, and we're already ready to get started already! It's just 142 (or so) days until May 28th. We've got everything planned for Lucky 8 - our luckiest and greatest furry convention yet!

Do you remember the serving area with all the tables and chairs in the middle of lobby, to the right as you approach the Artist Alley? It's called the Atrium. They served breakfast there, and it seemed we were all a bit hesitant in using that area during the off hours. However, we have made sure that after breakfast, we can sit there and mingle as much as we like! We could have done it last year, but that was hesitancy on all of our parts. Were we allowed in there? We didn't know, but now we do. The answer is yes!

We've got some great appearences and panels by our Guest of Honors. We are very thrilled to have both Robert King and Xian Jaguar join us this year. We're doing our best to get some top quality musical talent and DJ's from within the fandom. Our panels this year are more and varied, ranging from fursuiting to art, to writing, to graphic design.

Whether you're coming to mingle, party, buy, sell, trade, 'suit, or just play video games all weekend, RCFM has something for you!

REGISTRATION UPDATES

Greetings Rocket furs, this is Lupine Furmen, your new registration wolf letting you know what’s coming and what the status of registration is. On that front I have good news and bad news for you.

First, let’s get the little bit of bad news out of the way. Anybody that pre-registered at the end of the last con will have to re-register again. The reason for this is because we are using a whole new system and database. We apologize for the inconvenience, but hope that it will be well worth it. If you PAID when you previously registered, please contact me directly so we can work it out.

Now for the GOOD news! *grin* Hotel booking is all ready open, so go reserve your room right away before they all get booked up. Our room block filled VERY quickly last year and we expect it to fill up even quicker this year. Also, if you want/need a smoking room then you definitely need to reserve your room right away as there are only a very few smoking rooms.

Please be sure to get pre-registered, as this will not only save you money, but also save you time when you get to the convention. I’m going to be doing everything I can to prevent that long line we saw outside registration last year. (In the words of Naruto: “BELIEVE IT!”) A couple of ways I will be doing this will be by opening registration earlier; have the pre-registered packets all ready assembled and ready to go (just show your receipt and get your bag); and by having a separate area for the pre-registrations.

So all in all, I am really hoping that registration will run a LOT smoother this year and that we can set new standards for getting you folks checked in as quickly as we possibly can.

Lupine Furmen

Event Planning Poll
Everyone once in a while, some people get together and decide that they are willing to run another furry event. I happen to be part of such a group.

We would greatly appreciate your feedback in the poll linked below to help us determine what type of event to put together.

**Reminder** 4th Annual LAFF Bristol Ren Faire Meet
Who? You!
What? LAFF 4th Annual Bristol Ren Faire Meet
Where? Kenosha, Wisconsin
*When? Saturday, July 12, 2008* (The date has been changed out of respect for the 10th Anniversary of LAFF Softball.)
Why? To spend a day at Bristol Renaissance Faire with friends and fellow
furs.
How Much?
Faire: $18.95 for adults (13+ years old), $9.50 for children (5-12 years old), Free for children under 5
Dinner: $13.05 for adults (11+ years old), $5.99 for children ages 7-10 years old, $4.19 for children ages 4-6

Come join fellow furs and faire-goers for a fourth year in a row for some fun in the sun at the Bristol Renaissance Faire. As per tradition, we typically meet up once or twice during the day just to do a meet-and-greet, then go wander off to cause mayhem and enjoy the mischief of the fellow faire-goers.

After the grand parade at the end of the Faire, we'll all caravan over to Golden Corral in Kenosha (many of us still in garb) for food and more fun times.

As a reminder to all, it is strongly recommended that full fursuits be left at home for this event as, well, the faire dust gets in everything and the temperature is usually in the mid-80s or higher the weekend we go. Partial fursuits and simple tail/ear combinations are fine. Just remember to keep yourselves hydrated no matter which way you go. :)

If you have any questions about the event, feel free to contact me using one of the methods listed below. If you want to get in touch with me at Faire, my cell phone number is 815-922-3356.

Hope to see many of you there!
Samii

P.S. If you go to the Kenosha Convention and Visitor's Bureau website, there's a coupon available for download for a Buy One, Get One free offer for adult tickets. You can thank MoiraCoon for the heads-up on this great offer! Get your coupon here: http://www.kenoshacvb.com/specialoffers/onlinecoupons.asp Also, there are two types of parking at Faire -- Free parking is in the middle of a meadow and you'll have to walk a bit to get to the gates, and Preferred parking, which is closer to the gates, is $3.
